Alaric and his older brother, Leroy, were orphaned at a young age. While they spend their days busy and making bets for sweets, what they want more than anything is to find their parents and, with that reunion, hope to learn the reason for their abandonment. Unfortunately, so far, they have no leads because no one in the orphanage will admit to knowing anything about their family.
The night before Leroy’s seventeenth birthday, everything changes when he eavesdrops on a conversation between Mrs. Winters, the headmaster, and one of the instructors. Leroy is left stunned to learn that every child in the orphanage is an android, stolen from their families and made into weapons for the military.
Leroy malfunctions and leaves all he remembers in a journal hidden under his mattress. Alaric finds the journal, which leads him down a dark road of questions and anger.

Garrett and Elora were an inseparable pair of siblings who lived a quaint, boring life. Nothing too exciting ever happened to them, so the two developed a thirst for adventure through books. One evening, their parents planned a date night, leaving them in the care of their Aunt Natalie. She was an eccentric woman and a self-proclaimed antique aficionado. After bidding the happy couple a pleasant evening, Natalie whisked them away to an exhibit showcasing a peculiar, newly discovered sinkhole on the outskirts of town. Deep within its depths lay the remnants of a long-forgotten community. The exhibit was centered in a small strip of curious shops that lured travelers in to visit the hole and spend a few bucks along the way.
After scanning the store names, one caught their attention, and they lit up with joy. Being the avid readers that they were, Garrett and Elora made a beeline for the quaint bookstore, Books and Baubles, while Natalie wandered into the adjoining antique shop. Though charming, the bookstore issued an ominous warning: any patrons still inside after closing would become the owner's property.
